Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Members of the CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(ML) New Democracy today staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in protest against the Congress Government's ''insincerity'' in implementing land reforms.
Dissatisfied with Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao's reply during the Question Hour, CPI(M) Floor leader N Narasimaiah, before leading his party members out of the House, said the people would reject the ruling Congress for not undertaking the land reforms.
CPI Floor leader Ch Venkata Reddy warned that the stir by poor for land would intensify if the government failed to distribute land to all eligible poor.
G Narasaiah (CPI-ML New Democracy) also walked out of the House, alleging the government's indifferent attitude to the Supreme Court's ruling in a case pertaining to Land Ceiling Act.
Earlier, the Minister informed that the government was considering further amendments to the Act, keeping in view the Supreme Court judgement, which was reserved by the Governor for consideration and assent by the President.
After the imposition of ceiling on land holdings, 5.93 lakh acre of surplus ceiling land had been assigned to landless poor for agricutlure purposes, the Minister added.
