Council adopts Bill to amend Salaries Act

Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) The Council tonight adopted a Bill to amend the Andhra Pradesh Payment of Salaries and Pension and Removal of Disqualifications Act for providing allowance to the Members of Legislative Assembly and Council.

The bill piloted by Finance Minister K Rosaiah was adopted by voice vote with all parties supporting it.

The government had taken a decision to increase the Constituency Allowance from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 with effect from January 2002 instead of office expenditure allowance of Rs 15,000 by suitably amending the provison of secitons 11(1) of the Act on administrative grounds.
