AP plans micro irrigation with voluntary participation of farmers

Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government proposed to implement micro irrigation in Lift Irrigation Schemes with voluntary participation of farmers on pilot basis in the A Madhav Reddy project, Major and Medium Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah informed the State Assembly today.

Replying to D Rajasekhar (Congress), he said the government had sanctioned Rs 1956.30 lakh for implementing micro irrigation in distributaries 16 and 17 for 5400 acres.

Construction of sumps had been taken up on nomination basis, he said, adding that for remaining areas efforts were being made to enlist voluntary participation of farmers to complete the given target.

Action was being taken to complete field channels in all other distributaries. Field channels had been deleted only in distributaries 16 and 17, he added.
