Anteater sighted in groundnut field
Perambalur, Tamil Nadu, Mar 28 (UNI) A three-ft-long anteater, an endangered species was caught in a field at Nakkasalm village, near here.
The mammal, weighing five kg, was noticed by Chellamuthu in his groundnut field yesterday. He caught it and alerted the forest authorities.
The officials took possession of the male anteater and set it free in the reserve forests at Ayyanarpalayam near Veppanthattai.
Anteaters, are found in some parts of the forests in the district, according to forest department sources.
