Ansari releases commemorative stamp on Majaaz

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari today released a commemorative postage stamp and the first day cover on noted Urdu poet Asrar-Ul-Haq 'Majaaz' at a function here today.

He presented one set each of these to Ms Hamida Saleem, Majaaz's sister and to the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University said a statement.

Speaking on the occasion the Vice-President said, 'He was a revolutionary poet and his writings have influence of Saaz and revolution. He had an impact on an entire generation and his lyrics are full of romance and revolution,''he said.

The Vice President lauded the effort of the Department of Posts to honour Majaaz by bringing out a commemorative postage stamp as well as the first day cover on him.
