7 booked in dowry death case

Shivpuri, MP, Mar 28 (UNI) Six days after the death of the newly-married daughter of this district's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), a dowry harassment case has been registered against seven people here.

Gopal Goyal, who played the role of a mediator in solemenising the marriage, was arrested yesterday. Other accused were absconding.

DSP Bhanu Pratap Tomar's daughter Ragini was married to Jeetendra Singh alias Jeetu two years back. Ragini allegedly consumed poisonous substance and was taken to a local private hospital.

Later, she was admitted to a hospital in Gwalior where she succumbed on the night on March 22. Meanwhile, her parentrs were not informed about her condition.

After investigation, district's Sub Divisional Officer (Police) Neeraj Pande has registered a case against victim's husband, mother-in-law Munni Bai, father-in-law Prem Singh, brother-in-law Anant Singh Sisodiya, sister-in-law Sadhna Bhadouria and Sudha Sisodia and Gopal yesterday.
