New York Governor seeks to put the lid on past affairs
Schenectady (New York), Mar.27 : New York Governor David Paterson has decided to put the lid on his personal life.
Since taking office 10 days ago, Paterson has confessed to an extramarital affair, additional dalliances and to using marijuana and cocaine in his youth.
"More than any other elected official on this planet, and probably in outer space, I have discussed my personal situation over the past week," The New York Daily News quoted him, as saying.
Asked by reporters yesterday to explain his out-of-state trips with his long-ago squeeze, aide Lila Kirton, to promote Hillary Clinton's presidential candidacy, the governor bristled - and buttoned up.
"I think I have answered all those questions," he said.
Former Mayor Ed Koch, one of Paterson's biggest fans, said he was delighted the governor has decided to hush up.
