TDP mulling no trust against YSR govt ; Congress unfased
Hyderabad, Mar 26 (UNI) Just three days before the closing of the budget session, opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is mulling to bring a no confidence motion in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly against the 46-month old Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy govevernment.
But the Congress, unfased by the threat went on a offencive note and has picked up the gauntlet for a debate.
Even though the CPI has openly distanced itself, TDP senior leader and former speaker Y Ramakrishnudu told the media in the Assembly precinct that his party was planing to bring the no trust motion and will consult other opposition parties in the AP Assembly. The TDP however is yet to decide on tabling the no trust motion, Mr Ramakrishnudu added.
The motion has to be sponsored by tenth of the Assembly strength, and TDP, the main opposition has 35 members in the 294-AP Assembly, enough for the admission of the motion. Once the motion is given the speaker has 10 days time to decide and fix the schedule in the assembly.
Countering the proposed TDP move, state Finance and Legislative Afffiars Minister K Rosiah said the governmnt was ready to extend the sitting of the current budget session and was prepared for discussion in the house on the entire matrix of the government functioning.
The TDP had intially planed for tabling a discussion on the alleged corruption but appears to have change tack in the wake of the expected by polls to the state after Telangana Rashtra Samithi members quit from the assembly and Lok Sabha to press for separate statehood for Telangana.
If the TDP tables the motion tomorrow in the house it will be for the first time that Rajasekha Reddy Ministry will face such a motion which is bound to be defeated by an overwhelleming majority and will have no bearing on the tenure of the current governmewnt.
Mr Ramakirishnudu however justfied his party's plan contending that the no confidence motion by the opposition party was to express the 'displeasure of the people against the government.
And we had brought no confidence motion against the previous Chenna Reddy government twice and another Congress Ministry under Vijayabhaskara Reddy earlier, he asserted.
