Swift Dzire set to create excitement in entry sedan segment

Ahmedabad, Mar 27 (UNI) Maruti Suzuki has emerged as the market leader in the mid-sized sedan segment selling 41,800 units in the last eleven months ending February 2008 in the domestic market.

Chief General Manager (IT) Rajesh Uppal said here today, while launching the ''Swift DZire'' sedan in petrol and diesel engines, that the popularity of Maruti Suzuki cars in mid sized (A3) segment suggests that it has successfully expanded its image from being the leader in small cars to a company offering the full range of cars.

With the launch of Dzire in the A3 segment, the company is set to widen choice for customers and further increase its lead over the competition. The Dzire is seventh model in new sensations which Maruti Suzuki has launched in last three years. Swift Dzire, set to create excitement in entry in sedan segment, he said.

He said that a recent survey showed that 16 lakh people in the country have a disposable income of more than Rs four lakh in view of growing salaries, which is expected to be the customer base for this entry level A3 segment car.

Mr Uppal said that Gujarat is one of the important market for the company having sixty one per cent market share in this sector and a growth of over 20 per cent. Like the earlier Maruti Suzuki models, Swift and SX4, the DZire too is set to redefine the market and stir excitement in the entry level sedan segment.

He said that the Dzire offers luxury feature options like integrated stereo, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and power windows. It also comes with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column and an i-CATS anti theft facility.

The Swift Dzire petrol model has been priced at Rs 4.50 lakh ex-showroom Ahmedabad in the lower end to Rs 5.91 lakh and diesel model starting from Rs 5.40 lakh to Rs.6.71 lakh, he added.
