Bhubaneswar, Mar 27 (UNI) Orissa Assembly Assistant Marshal Gayatri Panda today filed an FIR with the Mahila police station against Speaker Maheswar Mohanty for allegedly harassing her sexually.

State Women Congress President Asima Mahananda, along with All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA) Secretary Pushpa Das submitted the FIR on behalf of the lady Marshal to Deputy Commissioner of Police B N Guru.

Ms Panda said she did not file the report personally fearing threat to her life as two people had come to her residence yesterday and threatened to kill her.

DCP Guru said registration of the FIR would be made after the inspector in-charge, who was on some other duty, reached the police station and went through the FIR.

In the FIR, Ms Panda, an Assistant Marshall in the Assembly since 2001, said she had never neglected her duty but was many times deployed on jobs not coming within the purview of her duty and at odd hours.

Alleging that the Speaker was behind all these, she added since the past few months, he had been sexually harassing her.

''I was mentally tortured as the Speaker repeatedly sent me obscene pictures in the middle of the night through his driver and tried to persuade me to maintain sexual relation with him,'' she maintened.

Ms Panda further added that since she did not agree to the Speaker's proposals, he threatened to take action against her without notice and ''suspended her again and again''.

The Speaker also sent a message to her that he would solve all her problems if she met him alone, Ms Panda alleged.

Ms Panda said though she had informed the Assembly Secretary twice about it, no action was taken against Mr Mohanty so far.
