Seminar on navigation-assisted knee arthroplasty

Chennai, Mar 27 (UNI) A one-day seminar-cum-surgery demonstration on Navigation assisted total knee arthroplasty was held here today.

The event was organised by the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRM University, at its campus in suburban Kattankulathur, in which experts and eminent professors in the field of Navigation-Assisted Total Knee replacement gave lectures.

Inaugurating the seminar, Tamil Nadu Director of Medical Education T P Kalanidhi highlighted the importance of outreach of technology to common man.

Lauding the SRM University for making it a reality to the people of the State, he suggested the management that the activities of the Medical College should be displayed in medical website so that it could be viewed globally.

Delivering the presidential address, University Chancellor T R Pachamuthu said the University would provide maximum support to train doctors abroad.

Prof R Dhanapal, Professor, Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery said, the first Navigation-Assisted Surgery was done in 1997 at Germany and highlighted its advantages.
