Nepal Tarai armed groups want talks

Kathmandu, Mar 27 : Armed groups in Tarai region have formed a four-member talks team to hold talks with the Government about the rights of Mahesis and Tarai residents.

The names of the members have not been disclosed in the statement signed by Rajan, central coordinator of the Madhesh Mukti tigers (MMT), Nagaraj, chairman of the Terai Cobra, Rajan Mukti, chairman of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) and Pawan, coordinator of Samyukta Jantantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (SJTMM).

The armed groups have demanded that the government should release their arrested comrades and withdraw cases filed against them to create a conducive and credible atmosphere for holding talks.

The armed groups want a time and place for dialogue to be fixed through mediators. They also want an assurance from the Government about the safety of the talks team.
