Maruti Suzuki launches Swift DZire

Mumbai, Mar 27: Offering the prestige associated with a sedan, while retaining the famed performance of the 'Swift' hatch back, Maruti Suzuki has launched 'Swift DZire' as an entry level on the sedan segment.

Unveiling the car yesterday here, the Company's CEO and Managing Director S Nakanishi said, with growing incomes and better lifestyle, many people want to upgrade to a sedan, but they are not able to find an entry level sedan that offers style, features and performance. The Swift offers all this, and at an attractive price, he said. The new Swift comes with both petrol and diesel engines, luxury feature options like integrated stereo, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and power windows. It also has safety features like dual air bags, ABS and EBD, collapsible steering column and an i-CATS and anti-theft facility. Many of these facilities have been offered for the first time in this segment.

The petrol version of DZire comes with 1.3 litre, 16 valve, ALTec 32 engine, with a maximum of 87 bhp at 6000 rpm. Its diesel version comes with the 1.3 litre DDiS engine, offering torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm.

The ex-showroom prices of DZire for the petrol engine cars are Rs 4.70 lakh for Lxi, Rs 5.18 lakh for Vxi and Rs 6.11 lakh for Zxi, while for the diesel version, the prices are Rs 5.60 lakh for Ldi, Rs 6.06 lakh for Vdi and Rs 6.91 for Zdi.

DZire is available in seven colors: Arctic White, Silky Silver, Clear Beige, Midnight Black, Bright Red, Azure Gray and Sovereign Blue, a release said.
