Linguist Jyoti Bhusan Chaki dies
Kolkata, Mar 27 (UNI) Noted linguist and academic Jyoti Bhushan Chaki died at a city hospital today following brain haemorrhage. He was 83.
A recipient of 'Bhasha Bhushan' title from Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad and honorary D Litt from Jadavpur University, Chaki was considered a versetile figure in the realm of linguistics.
He was proficient with 18 languages.
Many of his disciples and admirers thronged the hospital and his residence following the news of his death.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee condoled his death.
