Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch

Jammu, Mar 27 (UNI) The security forces foiled an infiltration bid when the militants attempted to sneak into the Indian territory, an official spokesman said here today.

They said an attempt was made by the militants from Roshni and Gun Hill posts in Mankote sector of Poonch district.

''The troops observed the movement of militants in the area from Roshni and Gun Hill posts last night,'' sources told UNI, adding, ''The ultras were trying to infiltrate to this side of the border from across the LoC.'' However, the troops challenged the infiltrators and opened fire, while the militants were reported to have retrieved after a brief exchange of fire.

''A search operation was launched in the area to trace the militants, while security forces had foiled the infiltration attempt,'' official sources added.
