Govt to publish achievement report for 2007-08:Modi

Patna, Mar 27 (UNI) Emphasising physical achievements, Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said the government would come with its performance report in the outcome budget for 2007-08.

Mr Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, told newspersons here that the achievements of the outcome budget would be published in July.

He said the government had fixed targets for an overall development in human resources, health and social sector, infrastructure and private sectors.

For human resource development he said free textbooks would be given to all girl students and students of SCs, STs, minority Muslim and extremely backward classes.

Appointment of 90,000 teachers was being made in the second phase.

Apart from constructing new schools buildings, infrastructural facilities would be developed for students. Rs 1.57 crore was being spent on midday meal scheme. The schools were being upgraded and land acquisition and building construction for University of Nalanda was under process and building construction for National Law College was also in progress.

Besides, the government was developing a network of roads in both rural and urban areas. It was also improving the drainage system. The existing thermal power units of the state were being modernised and new thermal and hydel power units set up to improve the power scenario, he said.

Irrigation facilities were also being improved, he informed.
