Garbage stink permeates the Goa leglsiative assembly

Panaji, Mar 27 (UNI) Inability of the government to find dumping sites for the garbage piling up in different cities of this tourist state, figured in the Goa Legislative assembly today.

The opposition leader Manohar Parrikar raised the issue through a calling attention motion in the House. He said that he feared outbreak of an epidemic, if the situation is not tackled with immediate effect.

The members expressed concern over the stink emanating from the garbage on roads, at different places in the state.

Reacting to this, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said that he would constitute a committee of legislators and environment experts to sort out the problem at the earliest.

Earlier, the Urban Development Minister explained various constraints in finding out a disposal site with people objecting to the sites identified.
