Common Man Insurance Scheme

Bhopal, Mar 27 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today endorsed a Common Man Insurance Scheme for rural landless families.

A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here, decided to make the Social Justice Department the nodal agency for its implementation at state level, an official release said.

The Scheme is implemented through the Life Insurance Corporation of India. The Centre fixed an annual premium of Rs 200 per member.

Half the amount would come from the Centre's Special Economic Fund and the rest from the state, the release added.
