Bush asks Jintao to reopen talks with Dalai Lama
New Delhi, March 27, 2008: Expressing concern over Beijing's harsh crackdown in Tibet, US President George W Bush has asked China's President Hu Jintao to re-open dialogue with the Dalai Lama to solve the crisis.
According to a statement issued by the White House, Bush also told the Chinese President to allow access to foreign journalists and diplomats. The statement revealed that Bush spoke very clearly and frankly about the violence in Tibet, called for restraint and a need for China to consult with the representatives of the Dalai Lama.
