Benami transactions in 'Abkari' can be controlled: HC
Kochi, Mar 27 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today observed that if the government had the will, 'benami' transactions in the 'Abkari' business can be controlled.
Mr Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan also observed in his order the total quantity of toddy consumed in Kerala was not proportionate to the total number of trees available for being tapped or for which the tree tax was paid.
The judge also observed the provisions of the 'Abkari' laws were not being implemented effectively.
The court made these observations while dismissing writ petitions challenging the State Government's 'Abkari' policy for 2008-09.
