Aanganwadi workers lathi charged in Punjab

Bathinda, Mar 27 (UNI) The police today cane charged Aangawadi workers outside the venue of a public function attended by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in the town here.

According to official sources the Aanganwadi workers numbering about 100-odd held a demonstration outside the venue of the function in support of their long pending demands, which included better working conditions. The police had to resort to a cane charge when they tried to enter the venue of the function in an attempt to meet the Chief Minister.

Official sources said that four Aanganwadi workers received minor injuries in the scuffle with the cops. Ten of the workers were rounded up by the police, but were released later.
