2 students killed as school compound wall collapse

Alappuzha,Kerala, Mar 27 (UNI) Two students, including a girl, were killed and another was seriously injured, when the compound wall of an upper primary school at Mavelikkara in this district collapsed this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Akhil and Shyamali, both eight year-old and Class III students of the Kuttamperoor Vidhyapradayani Upper Primary School, police said.

Praveen (6), who was seriously injured, admitted to a private hospital at Mavelikkara. Two other students, who had suffered minor injuries, were discharged after first aid.

Police said the compound wall was very weak and old. The children were playing on the gate fixed to the wall when it collapsed around 1530 hrs.
