TDP MLCs stage walkout in AP Council
Hyderabad, Mar 26 (UNI) Opposition TDP MLCs today staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, demanding that the government allocate funds to the local bodies under Sampoorna Grameena Rozgar Yojana (SGRY).
Dissatisfied with the reply of Panchayat Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy to a question by TDP MLCs Y Babu Rajendraprasad, Ch Varaprasad and China Rajappa, TDP Floor leader D Veerabhadra Rao demanded that the government allocate funds to the local bodies under the SGRY scheme.
He alleged that the government had stopped the allocations after the NREGS scheme was introduced.
When the Minister said the government was allocating Rs 90 lakh to every mandal and the modalities were under preparation on how to spend the money, the TDP MLCs walked out of the Council.
Earlier, Mr Reddy said while the government had released Rs 2.88 crore for the implementation of SGRY in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari, an amount of Rs 1.27 crore was released to Krishna district.
