Statements concluded in 15-yr-old case

New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI) The statements of the witnesses in a 15-year-old custodial death case were today finally concluded in a local court here.

One ASI and four constables of the Delhi Police were facing trial in the court of the additional sessions Judge K S Mohi for the custodial death of one Madan Lal in Patel Nagar police station.

According to the prosecution, ASI Chaman Lal and four constables had picked up Madan Lal from his residence, Lal later died at the police station due to injury on his private parts.

The case was registered after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) suo motu took the cognizance of the matter and an FIR was registered against the police personnel.

The matter was later handed over to the CBI in the year of 1994.

Three civilians were also facing trial in the case as they tried to save the policemen.

The court would hear the arguments next month.
