Police arrests rapist with accomplice

Itanagar, Mar 26 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, Arunachal Police arrested the main accused and one of his accomplices yesterday within 48 hours of the recovery of the mutilated body of a six-year-old girl.

The child was kidnapped and raped before being murdered on March 22.

Police said one Pawan Biswakarma, a retrenched employee of the victim's father, and his accomplice Sapna Begum were arrested yesterday. They confessed the crime during interrogation.

Pawan had engaged Sapna by paying her Rs 200 to lure the girl on March 22 afternoon. Pawan, along with two of his friends, gang-raped her before strangulating her to death and dumping the body, police added.

Police had launched a manhunt to nab the other two culprits.
