Opposition stages walkout in assembly
Jaipur, Mar 26 (UNI) Truce between Opposition and Treasury Benches in Rajasthan Assembly, achieved earlier in the day over issue of appointments of non MLA, non Minister district incharges to head district level administrative committees, proved to be short lived as Opposition again disrupted proceedings and staged a walk over demand for the government's statement on communal clashes in Chittorgarh.
Congress members Sanyam Lodha and Hari Mohan Sharma raised the issue while the house was discharging legislative business. They said that the Home Minister had yesterday assured that the goverment would come forth with the statement.
Their efforts failed to secure an assurance from the government and this agitated the opposition members who resorted to raise slogans and trooped into the well of the house.
This continued for over 10 minutes and in the meantime the Chair continued to discharge business of the day amid din and interruptions. Dissatisfied with the attitude of the government the opposition members walked out.
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria was scheduled to deliver a statement yesterday but he could not due to pandemonium in the house.
Earlier in the morning the proceedings of the day began on a stormy note with the opposition disrupting the Question Hour and part of the Zero Hour over the issue of appointments of politicians, other than MLAs and Ministers as district incharges to head the district level administrative committees.
The deadlock over the issue forced the Chair to adjourn the house twice in a row.
Later the deadlock was broken by Speaker Sumitra Singh's initiative for convening Chamber meeting with the Opposition and ruling BJP leaders. The meeting decided to refer the issue to the Advocate General for his opinion.
