Mysore-based Tibetans protest against China

Mysore (Karnataka), Mar.26 : As Chinese law enforcement personnel continued their crackdown on Tibetans in Lhasa and in other parts of Tibet, Tibetan monks and settlers based in Mysore participated in a protest march against China today.

The placard holding protesters shouted slogans against Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and appealed to the United Nations to intervene and save thousands of Tibetans languishing in Tibet from China's clutches.

They also urged authorities in Beijing to open a dialogue with Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, to resolve long-standingssues. The protesters also demanded the release of the Panchen Lama.

The mammoth peace march was organised by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress and the Regional Tibetan Women's Association.

Talking to ANI, the executive committee member of the Tibetan Women's Association, Dohma Yangchen, called for UN intervention and for the Chinese to talk to the Dalai Lama.
