Mukhi calls for inquiry in ACP Rajbir Singh's killing
New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI) The killing of Delhi Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajbir Singh, popularly called 'encounter specialist', who was allegedly shot dead on Monday night by a property dealer friend in Gurgaon, today figured in the Delhi Legislative Assembly with the leader of the Opposition in the house Jagdish Mukhi calling for a probe by the Commissioner into the incident.
Raising the issue in the House, Dr Mukhi, alleging a conspiracy involved in the death of the 'encounter cop', said the Delhi Police Commissioner should order an inquiry into the same.
He also called for a proper honour to be accorded to the remains of the police official considering that he had rendered useful service to the force by killing several wanted terrorists.
Speaker Prem Singh said he would convey to the Police Commissioner the sentiments expressed on the issue by Dr Mukhi.
The 'encounter specialist' was allegedly shot dead by his property dealer friend Vijay Bhardwaj in Gurgaon late on Monday night, following a dispute over money.
Singh had gone to Bharadwaj's office on Gurgaon-Mehrauli road in neighbouring Haryana to collect a payment. Since Bhardwaj, who owns Vijay and Associates, was short of money for the past several months, he killed the official using a revolver which the ACP had lent him recently.
''I feared that Rajbir would eliminate me...I instead killed him,'' Bhardwaj told police after he surrendered before them early yesterday.
