LeT militant killed, police constable kidnapped in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 26 (UNI) Security forces killed a militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and averted a major tragedy while a police constable was kidnapped in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.

Security forces and police gunned down a militant of LeT in an encounter at Bandipora in north Kashmir today. An AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Militants kidnapped a constable of Jammu and Kashmir police from his house at Veeri Bijbehara in south Kashmir, A massive hunt has been launched to trace the police constable.

A Road Opening Party (ROP) noticed a live grenade under a vital bridge at Kupwara town this morning.

The entire area was sealed and traffic stopped.

Later, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the grenade, they said.
