JD(S) holds talks on pre-poll alliance with SP
Bangalore, Mar 26 (UNI) The Janata Dal Secular JD(S) has held first round of talks with Samajwadi Party (SP) on a pre-poll alliance with it, in the coming Assembly elections in Karnataka, state unit of JD(S) President Mirajuddin Patel said.
Speaking in a meet-the-press programme, organised by Bangalore Press Club and Reporters' Guild here today, he said the party held first round of discussions on putting up the candidates in the Assembly polls due in May.
The talks were held with state SP President S Bangarappa, who was reported to have shown interest in having alliance with JD(S).
Mr Patel said the party was fully geared up to face the elections with projecting H D Kumaraswamy as the Chief Ministerial candidate and chalking out a number of programmes to come back to power.
The party had already received more than 200 applications for getting the party tickets to contest in the elections, he said, adding that majority tickets would be given to youth to promote a new generation of leadership in the party.
