Govt urged to set up welfare board for physically challenged

Puducherry, Mar 26 (UNI) The physically challenged persons in the union territory today urged the administration to set up a welfare board for them.

Talking to newspersons here, Anna Indira Gandhi Physically Handicapped Association Treasurer Ashok demanded three per cent reservation for the physically challenged in employment, enhancement of the financial assistance to Rs 5,000 per month, provision of free house site pattas.

Stating that the special employment exchange for the physically challenged was not functioning properly, he demanded its closure.
