Goa hands over to NHAI, work on Zuari bridge
Panaji, Mar 26 (UNI) Goa government has handed over work on construction of a parallel bridge on Zuari river, linking north and south Goa, to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on advice of the Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways.
This was stated by PWD minister Churchill Alemao, in reply to a question by Mahadev Naik in the state assembly today.
The Goa government had actually carried out a feasibility study for building a cable stayed bridge on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis with optimal design.
With the Ministry advising the state that the NHAI was entrusted with the construction of the 139-KM National Highway-17 as also the parallel Zuari bridge, the government acted accordingly, he added.
