Five persons arrested on bribery charges

Bangalore, Mar 26 (UNI) Lokayukta sleuths arrested a head mistress, a teacher and a president of an Urdu school at Jayanagar here on bribery charges for showing official favours.

According to a Lokayukta press release, President of Sangaameshwara Urdu School Rehmatullah Khan, Ms Rizwana Begum, a head mistress, Ms Mubeena, a teacher were caught redhanded for demanding Rs 24,000 as a bribe from Ms Noor Jahan, a teacher towards disbursement of salary arrears.

In another case, the Belgaum Lokayukta police arrested a police inspector M B Mokashi of Kudachi police station for demanding Rs 20,000 to help Mahadev Sadashiva Asode and others in an excise case and to allow to run illicit arrack business.

The police officer was caught redhanded along with a police station's sweeper Allauddin Imamsab Sanadi who accepted the money as per the direction of Mokashi.

In the third case, Board Education Officer, Mallappa Balappa Bajantri of Belgaum District was caught redhanded while accepting the bribe money of Rs 10,000 from Basappa Lagamappa Devarshi, a School Head Master for withdrawing Rs 3.54 lakh towards construction of class rooms.
