Engineer shot dead, Cong accuses DAN
Kohima, Mar 26 (UNI) An assistant engineer of Nagaland Geology and Mining Department has been shot dead by some unidentified miscreants near Chizami under Phek district yesterday.
Police said here today that Roland Sangtam, who was recently appointed as the deputy manager of the Wazsho Cement Factory, was on his way to office when the incident occurred.
The miscreants abducted Roland in his vehicle and then killed him at a place about 11 kms away from Chizami.
The driver of the vehicle, however, managed to escape and reported the matter to the police, who have started an investigation.
Meanwhile, the state Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has strongly condemned the incident describing it as a 'cowardly act' and accused the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland's (DAN) policy of deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
