Censor Board refuses to pass Marathi film 'Aamchi Mumbai'

Mumbai, Mar 26 (UNI) The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused to pass a Marathi film 'Aamchi Mumbai' as it may create hatred among different communities, Board Chairman and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore revealed today.

Addressing a session on the subject 'Is media&entertainment socially responsible' at the ongoing FICCI-FRAMES annual convention on the business of Indian Entertainment and Media industry here, she said the film promoted linguistic chauvinism by asserting that Mumbai was only for people speaking a particular language.

''Before taking the decision, we had sought views of noted artists Nana Patekar and Chitra Palekar. The former did not come forward and the latter subscribed to our view that the film is not worthy of being passed as it promotes violation of the Constitution of India,'' Sharmila added.
