ASI suspended for torturing youth

Moga, Mar 26 (UNI) Police post incharge of Ajitwal, ASI Jasbir Singh, was today suspended for alleged torturing of a youth of Madoke village in the district.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Moga SSP Ashok Bath transferred the ASI to the police lines with immediate effect and also ordered departmental probe.

The youth, Rupinder Singh, was picked up by the ASI after some youth clashed with police during a sports meet few days back.

Rupinder was allegedly tortured brutally on Monday night and needed to be admitted in Moga civil hospital in the emergency ward yesterday.

According to Rupinder, the police men hit him with iron rods.

When he became unconscious and his condition deteriorated the cops got him admitted in the civil hospital through a villager.

The SSP said that after proper inquiry further action would be taken against the cops found guilty.
