AFT mill workers observe fast

Puducherry, Mar 26 (UNI)Workers of the Government-owned Anglo-French Textile mills here today embarked on a relay fast near the Venkatasubbareddiyar statue here to press their demands, including an upward revision in their wages and provision of dearness allowance on a par with the clerical staff of the mill.

The workers had organsied a series of agitations to press their demands since March 20. They had organised a sit-in inside the mill after duty hours, put up a gruel pot and resorted to mass begging on the streets here, before observing the relay fast.
