8,700 hospitals upgraded under NRHM: Minister
Vijayawada, Mar 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi today said about 8,700 hospitals in the country had been upgraded under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to serve the poor patients.
Inaugurating a health sub-centre at Nidamanuru village here, she said all district, primary, sub and community health centres would be upgraded with better infrastructure under NRHM.
She said the Centre would soon launch a National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) on the lines of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to provide better health services to urban poor.
The Centre was committed to the welfare of poor and had allotted Rs 12,050 crore for NRHM in 2008-09 budget, she added.
