51 scientists honoured, 9 get Vigyan Ratna Samman

Lucknow, Mar 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today honoured 51 scientists, including Vigyan Ratna Samman to nine scientists.

The scientists were also conferred with Yuwa Vaigyanik Samman, Vigyan Shikshak Samman and Baal Vaigyanik Samman at an event organised under the auspices of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh.

They had been selected for the year 2005-06 and 2006-07.

For Vigyan Ratna Samman 2005-06, Dr P K Mishra, Prof Laxman Singh Yadav, Prof Veer Bhadra Mishra, Prof Ashok Kumar Shukla were selected, while Dr Sarman Singh, Dr Rajkumar, Dr V K Singh, Dr JG N Tiwari and Dr J N Verma were honoured with Vigyan Ratna Samman for 2006-07.

Giving away the awards, UP Science and Technology Minister Abdul Mannan said, ''I want children to enter the stream of Science and Technology to serve the country.'' Mr Mannan further congratulated scientists, who sacrifice golden opportunities in foreign and stay in India to serve their country.
