26 Myanmarese poachers arrested in Andaman
Port Blair, Mar 26 (UNI) The Andaman&Nicobar Police has apprehended 26 Myanmarese poachers from the Defence and Patrick Islands of Middle Andaman Region.
Three engine dinghies have also been seized by the police team, Superintendent of Police Ashok Chand told UNI today.
A massive search operation had been launched after foreign poachers along with their engine dinghies were sighted near the Defence Island.
Immediately a police party proceeded and 13 Myanmarese poachers alongwith one engine dinghy carrying fishing items were nabbed, the SP added.
On interrogation,the Myanmarese poachers disclosed that two more engine dinghies alongwith some other poachers were present in the same area.
Following clues provided by the apprehended poachers, the police party intercepted two other engine dinghies at Patrick Island and apprehended 13 others.
All the apprehended 26 nationals along with the seized property have been brought to Port Blair for further inquiry.
