Wage Board to submit report on interim relief soon: Kurup
Kochi, Mar 25 (UNI) The Wage Board for working journalists and non-journalists would submit its report on 'Interim Relief' for newspapers and news agency employees within a month, Wage Board Chairman Justice K Narayana Kurup said today.
Justice Kurup gave this assurance to a delegation of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) and the Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation (KNEF) during a sitting of the Wage Board here.
Justice Kurup also said he was exploring the possibility of including audio-visual mediapersons in the purview of the Working Journalists Act.
Stating that the Wage Board will work in a completely transparent manner, Justice Kurup said the board's website will be launched on April 12.
Earlier, the KUWJ and KNEF members led a protest march to the venue of the hearing and submitted a memorandum demanding 60 per cent interim relief.
The protest demonstration was led by KUWJ President P P Saseendran and former President C Gouridasan Nair.
In the morning, the representatives of the newspaper managements made their submissions to the Wage Board.
Hindustan Mazdoor Sangh President Thampan Thomas and Sebastian Paul, MP, also made their submissions to the Board.
