Security guard loots Rs 1.35 lakh worth cash, valuables; arrested

Mumbai, Mar 25 (UNI) An elderly woman was looted by the security guard of her housing society to the tune of Rs 1.35 lakh at Shankarsagar Society in Ghatkopar yesterday.

Police said 62-year-old Jyotiben Khani's husband Prafulbhai had requested the security guard, Ajitsingh Ramtej Giri, to do some domestic chores for him to which the latter had agreed.

Thereafter, Prafulbhai had left home for some work, leaving Jyotiben alone in the house.

Ajitsingh arrived at Prafulbhai's flat as promised but, upon finding Jyotiben alone in the house, snatched the keys of the cupboard from her and made away with cash and valuables worth Rs 1.35 lakh, police said.

Jyotiben lodged a complaint with the police in this regard and hours later, in a swift action, Ajitsingh was arrested from his quarters.
