SAU workshop on Digitization of Agricultural Doctoral papers

Hisar, Mar 25 (UNI) A two-day workshop of librarians from Agricultural Universities across the nation today began on Digitization of Indian Agricultural Doctoral Dissertations at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, here today.

Organised by the Nehru Library of the varsity in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) the workshop is being attended by the Librarians of all State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), deemed universities and Central Research Institutes of India.

Dr. Mruthyunjaya, National Director, National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) while inaugurating the workshop urged the participants to convert to promote e-products like e-journal, e-courses and e-thesis besides e-governance.

He said that HAU's Library had taken leadership amongst all SAUs of the nation by launching agricultural doctoral thesis repository in its digital library, which would go a long way in promoting and sustainabilizing the innovations.

Dr. Mruthyunjaya advised the host librarian, Prem Singh to bring out a journal on thesis repository in which thesis abstracts, reviews and the priorities of the university and governments are included.

Haryana Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J.C. Katyal in the presidential remarks said that this was the project of its kind in which all the agricultural universities and central research institutes would be involved.

He expressed gratitude towards the Indian Council of gricultural Research (ICAR) for awarding the prestigious project on digitization of doctoral dissertations to Haryana Agricultural University adding that the project would have a great bearing in the field of research.

The Librarian of host Nehru Library, Mr. Prem Singh highlighted major bjectives of the project and said that besides other points data collection, medium of data presentation and format would be discussed during the course of workshop.
