Ruling party-goonda nexus behind attack: PMC leader

Puducherry, Mar 25 (UNI) Stating that the attack on his car was a deliberate attempt on his life, Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) founder-leader P Kannan today alleged that ''the ruling party-goonda nexus was behind the attack''.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that there was a move to portray it as an ''accident'' and added that ''a situation would prevail here in the near future when anyone could be killed under the guise of an accident.'' Mr Kannan thanked all sections of the people for their full cooperation in the bandh, called by the party last night to condemn the attack. He also thanked his party volunteers for the peaceful conduct of the bandh, though there were a few stray incident of violence.

On the police's move to register cases against about 100 PMC volunteers, Mr Kannan warned the government of another agitation.
