Rahul Gandhi non committal on party's CM candidate in Karnataka
Bangalore, Mar 25 (UNI) Youth icon and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi was today non committal on who will become the Chief Minister in Karnataka in case the party were to emerge the single largest party to form the government in the Assembly elections.
Mr Gandhi, who began his five day tour of the state by visiting the local tribal people near Biligiranganabetta, about 200 kilometres from here, declined to comment on the contentious issue saying the party leadership would decide on such issues in New Delhi. When the locals pressed him further on whether the party would nominate a Scheduled Caste leader as the Chief Minister, he remarked " it is sad that a dalit was never made the Chief Minister of the state since its formation. But I am not the right person to say anything on this." However, he exhorted dalit youths to enter politics in large numbers so that the people belonging to the community got more benefits.
In charge of the party in Karnataka Prithviraj Chauhan, State Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were present when Mr Gandhi interacted with the locals.
