UP: Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide
Mahoba, Mar 25: Unable to bear the debt burden, a farmer committed suicide in Kulpahar tehsil of this drought-hit district of the Bundelkhand region this morning.
According to police, Baladeen Ahirwar of Bhaterwa Khurd village had to pay off Rs 2.5 lakh, which he had taken as a loan from rural bank and others.
Ahirwar was allegedly being harassed for returning the loan, following which he hanged himself from a tree at his field.
However, according to reports of the district administration, the farmer was mentally unsound.
The body had been sent for post-mortem.
