CM agrees to constituting committee for local bodies

Mumbai, Mar 25 (UNI) Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has agreed to form a committee on the lines of the ''Panchayat Raj Committee'' to oversee the functioning of municipal corporations and councils.

The suggestion to this effect came from BJP leader Eknath Khadse in the Legislative Assembly during the question relating to the audit of one municipality.

Mr Khadse suggested that there should be a committee like Panchayat Raj Committee to oversee the functioning of such bodies also.

Accepting the suggestion, Mr Deshmukh asked the Speaker to take the issue in the Business Advisory Committee for implementation.
