Pondy: Villagers hold road roko for drinking water

Puducherry, Mar 24: Traffic on the Villuppuram-Puducherry Road was affected for about one hour as the Villagers of Ariyur resorted to a road blockade to press their demands.

According to police, the villagers were protesting non-availability of drinking water for the last few days and were demanding the immediate rectification of the situation.

As the agitation progressed, Puducherry Welfare Minister M Kandasamy came that way. He was stopped by the villagers seeking immediate action.

Following Mr Kandasamy's assurance of immediate action,they dispersed.
