UT to launch awareness programmes against tobacco use

Chandigarh, Mar 24 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has decided to launch awareness and sensitisation activities in schools and colleges regarding hazards of Tobacco use. UT Home and Education Secretary Krishna Mohan said that the programme would be part of the PGI's Tobacco Cessation Centre and PGI's team of psychiatrists and psychologists would visit schools and colleges on Mondays and Saturdays for such activities.

The Education Secretary revealed that sensitisation programme would be implemented from coming academic year onwards. "The programme will be beneficial since Chandigarh has been declared a Smoke Free City," added Mr Mohan.
