Temple in TN conducts blood donation camp

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 24 (UNI) A Lord Ayyappa temple here collected 5,000 units of blood through blood donation camp held at the temple premises yesterday.

A release from the temple today said such camps were being organised for the past 12 years and the bi-weekly camps helped to meet one-third of the blood requirement of K A P Viswanatham Government Medical College Hospital every month.

Over five to six paramedical staff and blood bank officers from the hospital screened the volunteers for haemoglobin and stored the blood in tube sealers.

The temple was planning to organise the camps every week as more volunteers were coming forward to donate blood, the release said.
